Help for your first cards

Find an exact card, keep track of what you own, and save what you want next. These answers describe the features available today.

Find the right card

Which languages are available?

Card data is available in English (EN), German (DE), Japanese (JA), Italian (IT), and Spanish (ES). The Beta interface is English. A Japanese card remains Japanese in the English interface. Card language never selects a UI language. Any DE/EN number-and-date format control changes formatting only, not interface text or the Cards filter. Multilingual UI is deferred until after Beta; there is no active UI-language selector.

Are cards in different languages the same record?

No. Each card has its own language, Set and collector number. PTC does not automatically link equivalent cards across languages. Cards with the same name can be different identities.

Own it, want it, record it

What is Portfolio?

Portfolio is your private record of cards you currently own. Add an exact card, set its quantity and, when known, allocate copies to supported printings. An account is required to save your personal record; public browsing stays available without one.

What is Wishlist? Can I own and want the same card?

Wishlist records cards you want and the desired quantity. It is independent of Portfolio: owning a card does not remove it from Wishlist, and wanting a card does not mean you own it. Desired quantity is the amount recorded on your Wishlist, not an automatic calculation of missing copies.

How do I add many cards?

Use Add cards in Portfolio to search and select exact card identities before reviewing quantities. Wishlist Add cards has its own intake. Wishlist Set-missing intake offers a preview before applying changes and ensures the chosen minimum desired quantity; repeating it does not repeatedly add that quantity. Always check language and Set in the preview.

How does CSV import and export work?

Use Portfolio’s CSV controls and the supplied format/template. Import validates rows and shows a preview before you apply it; fix reported errors first. Export downloads your private recorded data. CSV is a portability tool, not a card scanner or a cross-language matching service. Treat downloaded files as private.

What are acquisition lots and sales?

Lots optionally record acquisition quantities, cost, condition and printing context. Sales record historical quantities and proceeds. Recorded costs and proceeds stay separate from current ownership and from active eBay asking prices. Amounts remain in their recorded currency; PTC does not invent an exchange rate.

Understand the evidence

What do Known printings mean?

Known printings describe source-backed physical options such as finish, edition or marking where evidence exists. Rarity is a separate classification. Neither an image nor a rarity label proves a printing. Coverage can be incomplete. A printing allocation records how many owned copies you assign to a known option; unallocated copies remain unassigned, not a guessed finish.

Why is an image missing?

The image is unavailable under current authorized source coverage. The card record can still be valid. A fallback is intentional, not evidence that the card does not exist. PTC does not substitute another language’s artwork to fill the gap.

What do fact-detail states mean?

Confirmed, partial, base-only, conflict and unsupported describe the quality or extent of stored source facts. Confirmed does not authenticate your physical card. Partial or base-only records have limited detail; conflict flags disagreement; unsupported means the source shape is not supported for detailed interpretation. Missing facts mean unknown, not confirmed absent.

Why do rarity labels have different evidence states?

Verified, normalized-only, ambiguous, unknown and legacy/unclassified presentations distinguish the evidence actually available. Normalizing a source label does not verify it. Unknown rarity does not mean a card is common. Rarity does not determine finish, edition, price or authenticity.

What does an eBay price mean?

These are active seller asking prices, not completed sales or guaranteed card value. They reflect the stated marketplace, listing and condition, and do not calculate your Portfolio value. Active eBay listings are stored observations, so check the marketplace, timestamp and status. Not checked, no exact match, expired, failed and blocked states mean different things; none means the card is worth zero. Opening a card does not refresh eBay. Read the market-data explanation.

Does PTC calculate my collection value?

No. PTC does not provide a Portfolio valuation, sold-price comparables or investment advice. Your recorded acquisition costs and sale proceeds are history, not an estimate of current value.

Beta and account access

Can I recover my password by email?

Production password-recovery email delivery is not active. The recovery page states its availability; it must not be read as confirmation that an email was sent. You can sign in with your existing password. Use a password manager and do not rely on recovery email being available during Beta.

Can I trade or scan cards? Is there a native app?

Signed-in collectors can try Scan card: photograph or upload one card, review possible matches, then confirm before adding a copy to Portfolio. Recognition is early and visual coverage is limited; manual search is always available. Photos are processed locally and discarded. Printing, condition and value are not recognized. Trade, a social marketplace and native Android/iOS apps are not available.

Is PTC an official Pokémon product?

Independent platform. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Pokémon, Nintendo, Game Freak, or The Pokémon Company. Catalog source attribution is not an endorsement of PTC. Artwork rights are separate from database licensing.

What remains incomplete in Beta?

The interface is English, images and printing evidence have gaps, and recovery email delivery is not active. Existing legal pages are incomplete drafts pending operator/legal review. No public contact or feedback destination is currently published. Read the Beta limitations.
